Teacher receives helpful lessons and supplies
Erin Muncy's Geology class at Southeast High School enjoyed the materials she received at the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education-sponsored summer Geology workshop for teachers.
Muncy found the workshop to be very well-organized, engaging, and meaningful. She's been able to use the new supplies several times already this year. She said, "The Geology curriculum workbook is incredible! It gave me new lessons that were practical, easy to perform, and well aligned to the Earth Science standards."
Her Geology students enjoyed working with the mineral and rock kits and the accompanying lessons. "Many were disappointed when those units had concluded," said Muncy. "I also used the samples of fracturing sand and crude oil when we were studying Earth’s energy resources. Many of my students have oil wells on their property or have family members who are employed in the oil field here in Portage County. Some of my students who aren’t as familiar with oil wells were surprised to learn that crude oil and salt water separates out in the “big green storage tanks” that they see all around them."
